HABITAT System Beton
HSB is a product manufactured by HABITAT Legno and marketed by Linea Legno.
HABITAT System Beton is a new type of dry connector for mixed wood-concrete structures offered and patented by HABITAT Legno.
HSB is a connector patented especially for interventions of consolidations of recent or historical wooden floors, but that it finds interesting applications even in new constructions.
Basically consists of an element in alloy conceived to allow a strong gripping strength to the wood through an Appel type of milling and special screw, while fastening to the concrete is given by the bond-tying property developed by the connector wide surface, especially treated and raised by a round head.
HABITAT Legno is able to calculate with accuracy the capacity of the floor.
Tests and Certificates
Tests carried out at the FMPA of the Otto Graf Institut of Stuttgart certify the conformity of the calculations according to the DIN 1052—1 regulations.
The convenient position of the connectors (based on the project specifications) allows containing the sliding of the resting section and maximum deflection well below the admissible values (f≤ L/400).
Laying phases
Laying common joists
The joist is protected by a polyethylene film, which has to be left intact during all transportation, handling and laying phases.
The connectors inserted at the end of the work, based on the Project specifications, must be fastened through a special screw or special nail.
The joist positioned at centre distance, equal to the one established in the sizing, must rest for at least 10 cm on the border bearing structures. The bearing plane must appear perfectly horizontal and normal.
Inserting interlayer
The interlayer made of fired bricks and matchboard must rest on the joist for 2 cm, without interfering with the connectors in order to maintain perfect complanarity of the elements.
Preparation for completing the casting
Next step is to position the electro welded metal mesh (Ø 6 20×20) up to the end of the joists. Then casting the bearing floor with thickness specified in the measurements with concrete Rck 250.
Just before casting, is a good norm to provide for a counter-deflection of 1/300 of the joist clearance to act as central support. Such device is to be maintained until complete drying of the casting.
Removing timbering
After drying remove the central support and remove the joists protective film by cutting away the polyethylene film flush with the support of the middle element and remove any concrete casting seepages.
